  • Day 1

    Marks our arrival on the island, where we gather in the afternoon for a warm welcome dinner and a leisurely city walking tour. 

     

  • Day 2

    On the second day, titled “Where Are We?”, we delve into Chios’ extraordinary history while visiting significant locations such as Kampos, Pyrgi, and Mesta.

     

  • Day 3

    Is dedicated to herbing and hiking from Olimpito Mesta, immersing ourselves in the local flora and gaining insights into Greek medicinal practices.

  • Day 4

    Begins with an exclusive cooking lesson, where we discover the art of utilizing Greek herbs in culinary creations. We attend a fascinating lecture on Greek medicine in the afternoon, and then there is live Greek music in the evening.

     

  • Day 5

    Takes us to the charming village of Pytious, where we learn, study, and experience the traditions of bread-making, honey production, cheese-making, jams, and traditional cooking with a focus on health and herbs. Additionally, we explore various preparations of herbs and creams.

  • Day 6

    Waking up in Volissos, we resume our herbing and hiking activities in the early morning.

     

  • Day 7

    Allows us to continue our exploration near Chios City, uncovering the secrets of medicated oils. In the evening, we return to Chios City, bidding farewell to those who are flying back or continuing their travels alone. For those staying with us, we extend the journey with three more captivating days.

    Exploring the ethnobotany of Chios Island, exploring the local herbs through the eyes of Greek traditional medicine, exploring local cousins and the combination of herbs, and learning to prepare traditional herbal preparations with local herbs like oregano oil, masticha healing cream, oxymel, elixer with the special honey of Chios, medical jams, and hydrosols.

    Well, you are joining us to enjoy nature. Our walks are flexible depending on the season, weather conditions, and, of course, the ability of the group. Herbing and hiking can easily be a 5 to 7 hours walk, but we have frequent stops to talk and introduce herbs.
